If this is your first time travelling through Heathrow, it helps to understand how the airport is laid out. It is large, it is busy and the four terminals are not all in the same place.

Terminals 2 and 3 sit at the centre of the airport, clustered together and accessible from the M4 Junction 4 or M25 Junction 15. Terminal 4 is on the south side with separate access from M25 Junction 14. Terminal 5 is to the west, also accessed from M25 Junction 14 via a dedicated spur road.
The original Terminal 1 closed in 2015 and no longer operates. If you see an old reference to T1 anywhere, it is out of date.
All four terminals have arrivals halls, departure check-in areas shops, restaurants and ground transport connections. The key thing to know as a passenger is that you cannot be picked up from the terminal forecourts licensed private hire vehicles must use the Short Stay car parks for collections.
